Ever stared at a blank Shopify product page wondering what to write? Yeah, we've all been there. But here's something cool we've been playing with: an automation that lets AI write your product listings by just looking at the photos. Seriously!
Here's How It Works
You just upload a product photo to Shopify - that's it. Behind the scenes, Zapier grabs that new product, sends the image to an AI tool called ChargeGPT, and boom! You get a title and description automatically written for your product. It's like having a tiny copywriter living in your computer.
The Tech Stuff (If You're Into That) 🛠️
Here's the step-by-step if you want to build this yourself:
1. Set Up Your Shopify Trigger
Trigger: New Product in Shopify
Grab these fields:
- Product ID
- Image URL
- Store URL
2. Add the AI Magic
Use ChargeGPT Vision
Input: Your product image
Prompt template:
Generate title and description for Shopify product.
Format: [Title] /// [Description]
No emojis or weird stuff - just the good stuff!
3. Split Things Up
Use Zapier's Formatter
Split text at: ///
You'll get:
- Title in Item 1
- Description in Item 2
4. Update Your Product
Update that Shopify listing
Product ID format: gid://shopify/Product/YOUR_PRODUCT_ID
Map your new title and description
Quick Tips 💡
Test with a dummy product (trust us on this one)
Add your store's style to the prompt (selling snowboards? Make it sound gnarly!)
Make sure your image URLs are public
Keep backup copies of your original stuff
Double-check that product ID format (it's picky)
When Things Go Sideways 🚨
If it's not working, check these first:
Can you open your image URL in an incognito window?
Did you format the product ID right? (It needs that whole gid:// thing)
Is the AI giving you properly formatted responses?
Got all your Shopify permissions set?
The best part? Once it's running, you'll save hours of writing time. Sure beats staring at that blank screen, right?
